Spider-man Comics

June 25, 2012

I’ve been collecting The Amazing Spider-Man comics for several years now.  My collection is pretty decent at around 200 or so comics out of nearly 700.   I made a sizable dent this weekend at heroescon when I was able to pick up around 50 back issues from the late 100s up to the 400s.  Most of my collection is from the mid 500s onwards, since that is when I started heavily collecting comics.  The goal is to one day have a full run, but it will  take me many years for that to happen.  Almost every comic from 10-150 goes for at least $50 if it is in good condition.  Maybe one day I will get lucky at a yard sale or thrift store and find some old issues I need.

Anyways, I think after I get all of my new comics bagged and boarded and into some kind of order I will post it on here so that you can follow along as my collection grows.

Bought some art to hang around the house.  The Thing was the one that really caught my eye.  I bought the Spider-man as well and Heather bought Cyclops.  I suppose we will hang them over the fireplace.20120625-234735.jpg

Stan Lee was about five feet away from me at the Heroescon art auction.20120625-234747.jpg

The two pieces we bought at the art auction.  The Where the Wild Things are is by Jackie Lewis and the Joker is by Chris Uminga.20120625-234801.jpg

Another pic of the Joker.

I took this picture in front of the convention center.   One of my favorite photos ever, and surprisingly, it has been making its way around the internet.  The original is here

Another exciting year at Heroescon. Here are a few things I’ve gotten so far. The art is from the Drink and Draw Social Club.

Champions!

May 21, 2012

My friend Scott and Heather and I went out to the Brewhouse Cafe this past Saturday to watch Chelsea take on Bayern Munich in the Champions league finals, arguably the biggest sporting event in the world.  I had a blast.  We drank beer, ate pub food and screamed so hard that I lost my voice for about 24 hours.  In the end, it all came down to Drogba.  He scored the equalizing goal at 88 minutes and the decisive penalty kick to win us the game.  By far, this is the greatest game of soccer I have seen since I have been a fan.
