On top of the world

July 18, 2011

Boston has been pretty busy so far; we have been to the Museum of Science, the Harvard Museum of Natural History, the New England Aquarium and the Skywalk so far. Today, we are going to the Museum of Fine Arts and on a Ferry Tour through the harbor. I’m hoping we make it to the Sam Adams Brewery tour before we have to leave, but time is passing rather quickly. Everything has been awesome so far, the New England Aquarium was a little underwhelming, considering we have the largest aquarium in the world in ATlanta, but it was still pretty sweet. The food has been amazing here, I eat fish almost every chance I get, and I am pretty sure its freshly caught most of the time.

The biggest difference between ATL and Boston is the way things are situated. Boston is way more compact, with rows and rows of townhouses down almost every city street, whereas in Atlanta, everything is so spread out. I’m not sure which I prefer really.

There are a few things that I had planned on doing while we were here that we havnt made it around to. I wanted to go to Walden Pond, the famous spot where Thoreau lived “alone in the woods” for a year, but it is a little out of the way, and it would take about a whole day to get there and back with all of the bus changes. Heather wanted to go to Salem and visit the sites of the witch trials, but I don’t think we will be making that either. And I am pretty sure, the all day tour of Boston is out of the question as well. It’s mostly because we bought the Citypass, which was a great deal ($48 for 5 museums and attractions) and feel we should do all of those first. Speaking of Citypass, there is one for Atlanta if you ever want to come visit. I know it includes the aquarium, zoo, and world of Coca-cola, among other things.

Anyways, here are a few pics from the Skywalk tour from the top of the Prudential building:

The glass makes all of the photos a little blurry, but they turned out well for the most part.

The sun was shining on this side, but you can see Fenway Park in the right corner.
